The design of this project is part of the Th\u00e9\u00e2tre&#8217;s sustainable development approach, initiated four years ago. This approach is based on Kate Raworth&#8217;s Doughnut Economics, which combines respect for planetary boundaries with the need to build a common social foundation based on social rights. The Th\u00e9\u00e2tre has adapted this theory to its scale, incorporating issues of equality, inclusion, and diversity into its foundation. The inclusion of people with disabilities was selected as a priority action in the sustainability action plan established.<\/p>\n<p>Our project targets three audiences: spectators, artists, and employees with disabilities.<\/p>\n<p>With this project, we aim for an impact and change by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Having more people with disabilities in the Province of Li\u00e8ge attend the theater (thanks to adapted infrastructures, trained reception staff, better communication, and accessible artistic offerings);<\/li>\n<li>Improving access to the labor market for people with disabilities (through the adaptation of our hiring policy and awareness-raising work with our staff);<\/li>\n<li>Increasing the representation of people with disabilities in the Th\u00e9\u00e2tre&#8217;s artistic programming, thanks to an adapted reception procedure, production, and infrastructure, to raise awareness among spectators about these issues and integrate disability into our artistic practices;<\/li>\n<li>Sharing best practices with other institutions to increase the participation of people with disabilities in cultural and social activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All theaters are accessible to people with reduced mobility (upon prior request to the ticket office).<\/p>\n<p>Assistance for the hearing impaired An installation allows hearing-impaired individuals (who do not use hearing aids) to enjoy performances. Headphones are provided free of charge (upon prior request to the ticket office).<\/p>\n<p>The Th\u00e9\u00e2tre de Li\u00e8ge is a partner of the European Disability Card. Launched in 2017 in eight European Union member states, including Belgium, the European Disability Card is part of a pilot project aimed at promoting the inclusion of people with disabilities in society.
