From 15 years old

Performance created on November 12, 2025 at Phénix, Scène nationale de Valenciennes

On May 30, 2020, Iyad Al-Hallaq, a 32-year-old Palestinian man with autism, was shot and killed by an Israeli border guard in the Old City of Jerusalem as he was walking to a specialized center accompanied by his teacher.
Once again, this holy land, this once fertile land, this now cursed land, was plunged into horror and despair.

Yet above the crackle of gunfire, the cries of terror, and the shattering grief, we can still hear birds singing in the sky over Jerusalem — observing, helplessly, the never-ending conflict between Palestinians and Israelis.
Far from the ground, high in the immaculate sky beyond human violence, three birds — portrayed by suspended actors in a graceful theatrical tableau — investigate the killing and seek to understand the tragedy by exploring the complexity of the events rooted in this lost paradise.

With In the Name of Heaven, Israeli director Yuval Rozman, now exiled in France, tells a contemporary fable, using the symbolism of birds to sketch new paths in search of beauty buried beneath the war.
