Bacchantes – Prélude pour une purge

MARLENE MONTEIRO FREITAS
21/01/2021 22/01/2021
  • Duur: 2H15
  • Location : Salle de la Grande Main

The enfant terrible of choreography, Marlene Monteiro Freitas holds international appeal thanks to her language of overflowing vitality, her taste for excess and the wealth of her references. Her latest piece is a personal reading of Euripides’ Bacchantes and sees eight performers and five trumpeters tackling the Greek tragedy. In this physical and animalistic performance, social statuses are put to the test, bodies are dismembered and faith and belief are tested to their limits. The dancers’ frenetic movements push the exuberance of their bodies to the extreme, to bizarreness, total strangeness and final punishment. Immoderation meets orgy.
