Conceived by renowned choreographers Chen Wu-kang (Taiwan) and Pichet Klunchun (Thailand), Choreographing Story “Rama House” explores dance traditions and the art of storytelling in Southeast Asia. The result of two years of research conducted in Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar and Indonesia, the project draws inspiration from the great epic poem Ramayana, one of the foundational texts of Hinduism. Through gestures, symbols and oral transmission, the two artists question the freedom and power of storytelling as embodied in traditional dance forms.
The performance blends documentary footage from their encounters with dance masters, electronic music and multimedia creation. These elements intertwine to connect past and present, transforming the stage into a living archive where memory, beliefs and heritage converge – revealing how the stories of the gods continue to resonate within our own lives.
