Coprésentation La Cité Miroir

Lauded by German critics as the best up-and-coming director, Ersan Mondtag is also a scenographer and costume designer. The Berlin-born artist plays masterfully with our emotions in a style that bridges performance and visual art. De Living revolves around the last hour of an ordinary woman’s life before her suicide. The stage features two similar rooms with two identical women, interpreted by the Belgian twins Doris and Nathalie Bokongo Nkumu (Les Mybalés), who come from the hip-hop scene. Through slow, staccato and theatrical gestures, their life is observed forwards and backwards, during two timelines that unfold in parallel. Does the end of life tell us less about an individual’s destiny that the tragic experience of humanity in a not-so-distant future dystopia? Art that pulsates and a show that is undefinable, unpredictable and unexpected!
