Gabriella Iacono and Gregory Grosjean trace the history of dance throughout the evolution of mankind, in an admirable blend of painting, music, photography, footwork, hand dancing, finger dancing and cinema. The dancers adapt a selection of iconic choreographies for two performers, which they recreate using only their hands. Within miniature sets with realist details, their costumed, made-up fingertips, which seem to have a life of their own, roam stages from Broadway to Paris, Moscow to Harlem. A series of twelve filmed tableaux, which are rebroadcast live on a cinema screen, reproduces ancestral dance, ballet, musical comedies, the popular American dance marathons of the 1930s, rock, contemporary movement, hip-hop and krumping. This fascinating journey showcases the richness of choreographic expression, which also narrates the history of the world.
