Paris, 1897. Edmond Rostand is still nothing more than a penniless, unknown poet. Forced to produce a play in a matter of days, he gets to work, drawing inspiration from the jealousy of some, the heartache of others and the quarrels of everyone. He writes a masterpiece that no one believes in, entitled: Cyrano de Bergerac! Edmond, the play by writer Alexis Michalik – which was awarded five Molière awards in 2017 – arrives in Liège with a brilliant, all-Belgian cast. Michel Kacelenenbogen gives us a close glimpse of the behind-the-scenes energy, as well as the rollercoaster for the playwright who is grappling with the torments of creation.
