Elenit – the things we know we knew are now behind

Euripides Laskaridis {Athens}
03/02/2022 04/02/2022
  • Duur: 85'
  • Location : Salle de la Grande Main

Choreographer and thespian Euripides Laskaridis lifts the veil on a timeless world that exists at the intersection of dreams and the agony of ideals, against the backdrop of devilishly punchy sound design. The Greek performer combines theatre, dance, cabaret, the circus, special effects and optical illusions with equal ease and demands admiration for the power of his extravagant imagination. The piece, which is rooted in satire, mythology, painting and clubbing culture, transforms the grotesque into a work of art. The stage, which is littered with corrugated iron sheets, recalls a wasteland that has been prohibited because of its toxicity. The performer surrounds himself with nine other performers, who embody improbable, off-the-wall creatures straight out of a cabinet of curiosities. This baroque, fanciful, iconoclastic and enjoyable fable, which takes place under the blow of a wind machine, depicts an indescribable freakshow that dances on the edge of chaos.
