Faded

Ioannis Mandafounis & Antigoni Fryda {Athens/Geneva}
2/02/2022
  • Duur: 45'
  • Location : Cité Miroir

As their career progresses, every dancer must maintain their skill and fight the decline of their body. Ioannis Mandafounis has spent more than twenty years on stage, collaborating with some of Europe’s most iconic contemporary dance companies (the Gothenburg Opera Ballet, the Nederlands Dans Theater II, the Forsythe Company). The classically trained artist is returning to his first love, ballet, and paying his last tribute to it by performing some of the most demanding male variations under the dramaturgical gaze of Eri Kyrgia. Antigoni Fryda accompanies the Greek dancer on the flute, while engaging in a dance-based dialogue about the fleeting nature of youth. Unlike the over-the-top sentimentality of some stars saying farewell, Ioannis Mandafounis takes his bow with emotion, humour and a disarming level of simplicity.
