Staged by Lisaboa Houbrechts, the new creation by the composer and saxophonist Fabrizio Cassol draws its essence from Monteverdi’s madrigals, which were composed between 1587 and 1638. Within this gigantic flow of lyrical poetry, which is nourished by a range of sounds from the Mediterranean and the Balkans, Fabrizio Cassol has chosen a selection of excerpts about love and exile. Interpreted by seven musicians, they are intertwined with the songs of the American soprano Claron McFadden, the Scottish mezzo-soprano Nicola Wemyss and those of gypsy multi-instrumentalist Tcha Limberger, who is recognised as one of the most important figures of folkloric music from the Carpathian basin.
