Intrigue et Amour
Friedrich von Schiller/ Yves Beaunesne
- Duur: environ 2h15, en création
- Location : Salle de la Grande Main
Louise Miller, the daughter of a poor music teacher at the court of a duke, is romantically involved with a young man, Ferdinand, an only child who stands way above her condition. He is the son of the very powerful and clever President von Walter. As Ferdinand’s father arranges for his heir alliances which are more advantageous to his own interests, Louise’s father worries: “He is going to lie to her, get her pregnant and then leave her. She will be dishonoured until the day she dies.” Louis and Ferdinand choose each other in spite of objective criteria but find themselves trapped in this crisis. The director Yves Beaunesne tackles joyfully this founding play of the modern German theatre that will speak to the public as long as there are young people who feel love and injustice, and older people who defend, in spite of these feelings, the world as they have known and build it. This play is telling us that the toughest battle is against ourselves.
