Tunisie

With Laaroussa Quartet, Selma and Sofiane Ouissi continue their exploration of gesture as memory, resistance, and transmission. Inspired by the women potters of Sejnane in Tunisia, the piece draws from their ancestral knowledge to question the relationship between the body, material, and the contemporary world. Blending dance, music, video, and craft, a quartet of dancers brings to the stage the everyday gestures of these women who shape not only clay, but also the history and identity of their communities.

Surrounded by an artistic team from contemporary music, visual arts, and scenography, Selma and Sofiane Ouissi create a sensitive, transdisciplinary work in which artisanal gesture becomes both poetic and political language. Laaroussa Quartet pays tribute to the hands that work, transmit, and resist — a song of the free body inventing its own movement.
