When a prestigious French haute couture house receives an extraordinary commission – the making of the wedding dress for the Princess of England – suddenly dozens of seamstresses, embroiderers, and patternmakers are bound by the utmost secrecy.

For eight months, these skilled hands, hidden in the shadows of the workshops, labor on the creation of a dress that will go down in history the moment the Princess walks through Westminster Abbey under the eyes of thousands of cameras.

A meticulous fabrication, kept under strict confidentiality clauses – royal order and haute couture demand it – which takes us to the heart of a Parisian haute couture house, a lace workshop in Alençon, but also to an embroidery workshop in India, based in Mumbai; three worlds linked by craft, expertise, and secrecy; three workshops where men and women are broken by work and by stories inherited from a confidential past.

Without ever losing the know-how of these artisans, without ever losing the power of what they hold in their hands, LACRIMA tells us the destinies of these shadow workers at the moment when their lives are about to change, and poses at every moment the question: “In the silence of secrecy, what spaces are created between what destroys us and what preserves us?”

! Some scenes contain passages of physical or psychological violence.
