The first sparks of creation sometimes arise under extraordinary circumstances. During the performances of “Elenit” in Liège in 2022, the initial images of a new whimsical and poetic adventure appeared in the dreams of Euripides Laskaridis. Today, these images return to their place of origin, in a tangible form, in a unique theatrical experience.

A virtuoso in the art of infusing magic into the most diverse and common objects of our daily lives, the Greek choreographer becomes the orchestrator of a new genre of show here, with hybrid and unknown forms that embrace performance as much as dance and visual arts.

With “Lapis Lazuli,” he continues his exciting exploration of the themes of metamorphosis and ridicule, merging grotesque, comic, and horrifying elements. Inspired by the lyricism of lapis lazuli, the stone of the sky, whose name simultaneously evokes an earthly and celestial origin, as if this mysterious ornamental stone with its enchanting azure blue could contain within it two antinomical entities, Euripides Laskaridis aims to create on stage a new world as captivating as it is enigmatic, to weave on the boards a canvas with seemingly contradictory variations, and to take us to places where troubling dualities intertwine.
