Le fabuleux destin des Ballets russes
Lara Barsacq / Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège
- Duur: 120'
- Location : Salle Philharmonique de Liège
A famous Russian opera and ballet company with unrivalled importance, the Ballets Russes have travelled across Europe for over twenty years with their hybrid performances, at the crossroads of all the arts.
Lara Barsacq, who has a personal connection to the Ballets Russes – Léon Bakst, her grandmother’s uncle, was its costume designer and scenographer – draws inspiration from certain major works written by the company between 1909 and 1929 to pay vibrant homage to one of the most important periods in the history of dance. Accompanied by two dancers and the Liège Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, with Le fabuleux destin des Ballets russes, Lara Barsacq delivers a documented performance which creates a dialogue between present and past, and, by evoking a former adulated muse, Ida Rubinstein, resonates like a magnificent hymn to emancipated bodies, women and freedom.
