Le Tremblement du monde – Un oratorio pour toutes les humanités
Édouard Glissant / Étienne Minoungou
- Duur: 1:20
- Location : Salle de l’Œil vert
From 15 years old
Performance created on August 31, 2024 at Théâtre de Namur (Intime Festival)
Born in 1928 in Sainte-Marie, Martinique, and passing away in Paris in 2011, Édouard Glissant remains a truly unclassifiable author. A versatile figure, he excelled across all genres: poetry, novels, theater, and philosophy.
Long considered a candidate for the Nobel Prize in Literature, he devoted his life to understanding the world and the diverse humanities coexisting within it.
A profound thinker of creolization, he was one of the most ardent advocates for cultural exchanges, identity blending, and openness to others — as an antidote to the inevitable clash of civilizations.
With his new creation, major Belgian-Francophone actor Étienne Minoungou, joined by two musician companions, invites audiences into a musical journey through the heart of the Martinican poet’s work — always driven by exchange, dialogue, and encounter.
Between musical oratorio and political stand-up, he brings to the stage this utopian thought that today’s world, with its identity and nationalist retreats, tends to turn away from — offering a joyful and enriching moment of theater.
