L’École des femmes
Molière / Stéphane Braunschweig Odéon-Théâtre de l’Europe Paris
- Duur: 1h50
- Location : Salle de la Grande Main
There are many male characters in Molière who, haunted by the fear of women, show sickly jealousy, unbridled possessiveness and fear of being deceived. Arnolphe is not immune to this, an inveterate slayer of marriage and husbands, but he is about to marry young Agnes. Having taken care to raise him completely removed from the world since his childhood, he thinks thus to avoid what he apprehends. In this nightmarish farce, Molière denounces this madness that finds support in the worst religious obscurantism, Arnolphe’s “Marriage Maxims” being similar to the precepts of Christian extremists, ultra-Orthodox Jews or radical Islamists. Engross yourself in the hidden novel of the house, open the closed shutters, this is what is proposed by the producer and director of the Odéon-Théâtre de l’Europe, Stéphane Braunschweig, supported by a great group of actors from the French stage.
