L’Impresario de Smyrne – Scènes de la vie d’opéra

Carlo Goldoni / Laurent Pelly
28/12/2023 31/12/2023
  • Duur: +/- 2h, en création
  • Location : Salle de la Grande Main

A reinventer of the commedia dell’arte, Carlo Goldoni wrote more than one hundred comedies and opera librettos, earning him success and acclaim to this day.

In the middle of the 18th century, at the height of the Carnevale festivities in Venice, it is said that a rich Turkish merchant recruited Goldoni to stage the pinnacle of operas in Istanbul. It is also rumoured that the elite knew nothing about this. Laurent Pelly, a complete creative who mixes his dual passions for theatre and opera here, brings together experienced actors and those fresh out of school, lyrical singers and instrumentalists, Belgian and French animals, pets and stage animals. Singers and actors compete to be the prima donna, amidst a mile-a-minute whirlwind of joy, jousts, jealousy, divas and castrati.
