At dawn on 4 November 1956, Soviet tanks entered Budapest to suppress the Hungarian insurrection. Throughout Europe, many people on the left are cut off from the ideals that the USSR had represented up until this point. At the same time in France, a ten-year-old child is left along on the platform of a train station by his mother, without any explanation. He will not see her again. Eleven years later, after becoming a yé-yé star, he hires a detective to solve the mystery behind his abandonment. This investigation is at the heart of Nosztalgia Express. Led by a strange character, Victor Zellinger, it leads the singer and his entourage to Budapest, where they are confronted by the Hungarian secret police and experience a series of incredible adventures. Shifting from drama to comedy completely at will, the story by Marc Lainé captures our attention at every turn. It reminds us that we need incredible stories. Just like we need utopias, which can occasionally intersect with reality…
