Screening of Gurumbé. Canciones de tu memoria negra — Miguel Ángel Rosales
Gurumbé explores the little-known history of African populations enslaved in Spain between the 15th and 19th centuries. Through archives, interviews, and analyses by anthropologists, the film highlights how this repressed heritage has shaped Andalusian culture and flamenco. The rhythms, gestures, and music convey a bodily and immaterial memory passed down through time.
The screening will be followed by a talk with Yinka Esi Graves, choreographer and performer of The Disappearing Act.
