Gala in favor of the foundation Fondation Ihsane Jarfi

In April 2012, 30-year-old Ihsane Jarfi was kidnapped and murdered as he was exiting a dance club in Liege. The eponymous foundation was created on February 6^th, 2014: its goal is to fight all kinds of discrimination and violence, especially the ones which target homosexuals.

Before us, in a minimalist decor, is Pippo Delbono. The great poet, who is used to the most famous festivals, has come to meet us. He opens himself up to us, telling us about people he met and who turned out to be very important in his life, about his relationships, his childhood, and his journey with his lifelong friends. Through his true story, almost speaking to us as if we were his close friends, he speaks about struggle, theatre, politics and poetry, what belongs to any of us….

« Je me souviens, quand j’étais petit, au mois de juin, les lucioles arrivaient. Puis elles disparaissaient. Mais au mois de juin, elles remplissaient les nuits. Et je me souviens que je passais beaucoup de temps avec mon grand-père à les regarder, dans la campagne. Lui déjà très vieux et moi un enfant très petit. […] Ce mois, dans ces années-là, a marqué le temps des renaissances et des morts. Le mois de mon anniversaire. Le mois d’un temps nouveau. Le début de l’été. Le mois des couchers de soleil interminables. Du début du théâtre. Du début de l’amour. Le mois des pertes. Des blessures. Des peurs. De se sentir perdu. […] »
