  • Location : Salle de la Grande Main

Spanning from the death of Franco in 1975 until the Covid-19 years, Renacimiento (Renaissance) is inspired by iconic moments from the brief history of Spanish democracy and uses the scenes as an allegory for the tumultuous journey of a nation. We encounter a microcosm of theatre managers working to achieve a common goal: dismantling the set from a show that has finished, putting up the next set and ensuring that everything is ready for when the public arrives. In the middle of sound tests, spotlights, wiring and curtains, the group talks about love, pain, childhood memories, professional worries and two questions that underpin the work: to what extent has the purity of the initial impetus that led to the creation of democracy been lost? Isn’t it time for a rebirth? Thee humble and anonymous people subtly reveal another way of doing things and allow us to see that everything is still under construction, and always will be. This piece, which is both cinematic and theatrical, brings more than twenty performers together on stage. They act, they dance and they call for a more sensible and joyful life together!
