CREATION AT THE THEATER OF LIÈGE

In this small kitchen, at the back of the Salon Saphir at the funeral home, there is not much time left and Madeleine must finish writing the eulogy.

It’s the last day of visits. The final farewell. We must go. It’s now. But she prefers to be here, on her side of the curtain with them, with you. On the “good” side, in the world of the living, allowing herself to be swept away in the unexpected and joyfully chaotic flow of all these visitors, which will only stop when the coffee maker, the boxes of cookies, and tissues are empty.

To avoid crossing this border too quickly, she invents any pretext. Even slipping into the skin and feelings of others. Even if it means constantly feeling like she’s missing out on her life and escaping her own reality.
She would even forget why SHE is here. But the smell of lily stamens and the friendly team of funeral directors will bring her back here and now.

Between the trivial, banalities, fragility, and exuberance, she makes us experience a joyful chaos of feelings and existential questions.
