Léandre and Octave’s revolt against their despotic and miserable fathers, their search for financial independence, their desire to choose their fate and life partner freely, echoes the upheavals of May ’68. To commemorate the fiftieth anniversary, Thierry Debroux stages, drums beating, this classic piece where everyone gets a happy ending, encouraging young people to return to the fold. Three centuries after its creation, this tasty comedy always succeeds in being overly entertaining. And then we know that our immature rebels will become in their turn, time resulting in their wear, the “old sods” of their offspring … Under the pavements, the farce!
