Choreographer Ayelen Parolin launched a joyful creative process that combines enjoyment, authenticity, freedom in work and individual uniqueness in Weg (Pays de Danses Festival 2020). As a continuation of this, the new opus by the Argentine artist takes three dancers on a journey linked with innocence, childhood, naivete and the character of the fool. Once they are freed from the need to be serious in this way, and any other trappings, the trio exults in an inoffensively light and delightfully self-effacing dance that is punctuated by moments of friction, inappropriate mixing and incessant hacking. The score, which is set to strings, oscillates between unfinished and restarting and is repetitive, always moving and continuously redistributed, restructured and redesigned. The choreography is deliberately concise and there is no music because it is up to the bodies to produce bizarre rhythms, sounds and noises to delight us. Simple is impossible to categorise and predict and is as virtuosic as it is hilarious. It transports us to a world where everything is possible: the insane, the dreamlike, the contagiously joyous.
