Suzanne : une histoire du cirque

France

When Anna Tauber meets Suzanne M., a former aerialist who, from 1948 to 1965, toured theatres across the world performing her circus act with her husband, she realises she is holding a fragment of history – not only the history of the circus, but something much larger.

Suzanne and Roger flew through the air thousands of times, between six and twelve metres high, without safety mats, harnesses or nets. Risk was at the heart of their art – and it changed everything. Today, few artists take such risks, few devote themselves so entirely to their craft. So how can one pay tribute to these performers who defied death for so many years? Should she take the same risks? Dare to re-enact the legendary act that once thrilled audiences?

In a hybrid performance – part film, part lecture, part stage show – Anna Tauber retraces the extraordinary life of this remarkable woman and opens a reflection on memory, risk, death, and the very act of living.
