Characterized by liberal capitalism, the current political trend is to govern in a state of constant threat which creates and demands more and more order through repressive laws. So it seemed essential to the Belgian director Jorge León and the New Zealand choreographer Simone Aughterlony to question our relation to power by gathering all the practices which tend to structure human behaviour. Seven dancers of different ages, heights and pasts, are all dressed as police officers: they are stuck between tiers and closely observed by the audience. The organic piece is invaded by a sound space full of electronic music and samples organized by Hahn Rowe. Uni*Form speaks about the mistrust regarding ruling power, about the individual standardization, about alienation and verbal or non-verbal relationships. This work is committed, blunt, powerful, provocative, successful and dreadfully funny.
