Ayelen Parolin
6/02/2024
  • Duur: 50'
  • Location : Salle de la Grande Main

Following on from SIMPLE (performed at the Théâtre de Liège in 2022), the Argentine choreographer Ayelen Parolin continues to explore the emerging connections between dance and humour, through the figure of the happy fool, in a piece for three performers that resonates on the stage like an ode to irrationality and unpredictability. On a colourful stage, two male dancers and a female dancer wearing zany costumes celebrate joy, simple pleasure, exaltation, exuberance and excess, through the laughter of a captivated, complicit audience.

Against the current trend in society where everything has to be thought about, reflected on and weighed up, Ayelen Parolin brilliantly orchestrates the choreographical disarray, depicts the randomness of chance and develops an extravagant, absurd ritual which, abolishing all ideological, aesthetic and political decorum, offers a new, invigorating perspective on contemporary dance.
