Robyn Orlin - Albert Silindokuhle Ibokwe Khoza {Berlin / Johannesburg}
13/02/2018 14/02/2018
  • Duur: 60'
  • Location : Salle de l’Œil vert

Native to South Africa, Robyn Orlin is nicknamed “the permanent irritation”. Her political, societal, ideological, and identitarian engagement led the white choreographer to put on stage Albert Silindokuhle Ibokwe Khoza, a young South African performer. While being homosexual, Christian, dancer, and sangoma (healer), he crystallizes the questions that Robyn Orlin addresses to post-apartheid society. The artist, with his continuously filmed, imposing body, explores the seven deadly sins to Mozart’s Requiem Lacrimosa.  Alternating provocation, emotion, song, and humour through interaction with the public, his solo is populated with multiple presences which unlock the shackles of conservatism, all while revealing the violence of a society torn by its paradoxes.  Two undisciplined figures of South African creation unfurl the path of an individual who aspires to his rightful place.
