Apoxyomenos

Claudio Bernardo / Ballet du Théâtre National de Croatie
22/01/2019 23/01/2019
  • Duur: 1h
  • Location : Salle de la Grande Main

Discovered around Lošinj, a Croatian island, the Apoxyomenos was treated mercifully by the sea for two millenia. Its waves gave us this almost unbroken bronze statue, as witness to all the disasters that the depths of the waters have amassed. This material feeds the choreographic creation of Claudio Bernardo for the dancers of the Ballet of the Croatian National Theatre. Evoking the legacy left by the war on bodies in the diaspora, amputated limbs and psychologically traumatised, the dancers move in a universe charged with nostalgic poetry and through choreography, inspired by the traditional dances of Mediterranean and Adriatic countries.
