  • Location : Salle des pieds Légers

Located in the heart of the Parc d’Avroy in Liège, the MADmusée is an institution which was created by the association Créahm (Créativité et handicap mental, asbl). It houses a very unique collection which belongs to the field of the Art Brut Contemporain. The location of the MADmusée is being remodelled, so it has the occasion to organise exhibitions outsides its walls and share its work specificity in other places and with other publics. The mix made by music and theatre is born out of a mutual curiosity, of the closeness between both artistic approaches built on the reality, and out of their common willingness to share their art with everyone.

Alain Platel, a Belgian choreographer and director born in Gent, is the founding father of the company Les Ballets C de la B.

For his productions, he works with professional as well as amateur artists. As soon as he started his training, Alain Platel became interested in the sensorial and emotional universe of handicapped and mentally ill persons. Repeated and often pointless gestures they make are interpreted by the choreographer as the expression of something unexpressible. That is the reason why he answered enthusiastically to the invitation of MADmusée to give a look to the collection, in collaboration with Pierre Muylle.

This exhibition is part of the festival Pays de Danses.
