Habib Ben Tanfous
Drawing inspiration from family archives and personal anecdotes, Habib Ben Tanfous uses his body as the vector of an intimate, funny and sensitive look into the ambivalence of inheritance. What should we do with what has been bequeathed to us? What will we bequeath in turn? With Ici je lègue ce qui ne m’appartient pas, the Brussels choreographer traces the footsteps of his ancestors, the people who we sometimes never knew – who have become phantasmical images – but who still continue to live through us and continue to live in us.
In an intimate creation with a unique tempo, Habib Ben Tanfous uses dance, music and song to share his thoughts and doubts about the opaque and ambiguous bonds that unite identity and inheritance, and pries open a path to intoxicating memories.
