Kheir Inch’Allah
Yousra Dahry / Mohamed Ouachen
- Duur: 1h05
- Location : Salle de l’Œil vert
From 12 years old
Performance created in September 2022 at Théâtre Le Rideau, Brussels
Yousra, 33, looks back with humor and tenderness on the education her father gave her and the one she shaped for herself among the Draris — the young people of her neighborhood.
This upbringing influences her relationships with men, a subject she dissects through the lens of her many identities and competing values: loyalty, taghenanism, femininity… and drarism.
In a world that keeps whispering she must choose who to become, clarity eludes her.
Her father, a touching figure, takes an active role in raising his daughter, offering her the best tools he knows, believing they will protect her — haunted by the fear of not being able to shield her from the adult world.
Her mother, for her part, tries — through her own life experience — to let her daughter become who she wants to be, struggling with the idea of no longer being indispensable.
This show is a heartfelt testimony to the inner questioning of a young woman finding her way toward herself.
