Oresteia recounts the sacrifice of Iphigenia by her father. The show juxtaposes three versions of the Greek tragedy – the original text by Aeschylus, the masterful translation by Ted Hughes and Bloodbath, the acclaimed interpretation by Gustav Ernst – to bring out heightened belligerence and toxic masculinity, showing Agamemnon in a new light. An international cast examines 2,500 years of misogyny, the desire for power and the indifference with which we endure this violence.
