Christos Papadopoulos / Compagnie Leon and the Wolf
After three productions, Christos Papadopoulos has been noted for the beauty of his refined movements. The young choreographer from Greece, who is on the rise internationally, develops his aesthetic through the body’s continuous, successively shifting undulations. This work, which combines geometry, minimalism and optical phenomena, is deceptively simple, making it seem as though nothing is happening, even while everything is moving. Larsen C explores the way in which our perceptual preconceptions alter reality. Deviated trajectories and sequences that are staggered, repetitive or jolting, slowed down or sped up: everything disrupts our senses. The bodies of the six dancers embrace the movements that wash over them, like an iceberg melting into itself, disappearing into its infinite mutations. This mental trompe-l’œil dispels the notion of a fixed perspective from which to view the world, which is an essential value of the festival.
