In the ruins of an enigmatic garage where ancient statues, dilapidated cars, and neon lights in bright colors coexist, the wedding preparations of the ominous boss, despot of this mechanical palace, and the beautiful Lucie, trapped in a dream, occupy everyone’s minds.

To embellish his upcoming honeymoon, he orders his staff to repair an old Dodge Charger – a mythical American car. As the festivities are organized and all the mechanics set to work, increasingly strange events gradually disrupt the narrative: a phone that has been ringing endlessly with no one allowed to answer it; an ever-growing list of ex-wives, all of whom disappeared under strange circumstances shortly after their marriage; sudden changes in names and behaviors… These anomalies portend impending dangers for Lucie…

Interweaving theater and cinema, Claude Schmitz – whose latest feature film was selected at Cannes in the Directors’ Fortnight – offers with Le Garage inventé a total spectacle, where all elements – set design, sound, lighting, images, video, and text – are used to create an innovative theatrical poetic language, in the form of an awakened dream that questions the archetypal composition of our narratives and the place accorded to female characters.
