On August 16, 1977, in Memphis, Tennessee, the body of Elvis Presley – victim of a heart attack – was found lifeless, lying on the floor of his bathroom, leaving millions of grieving fans around the world.

Even today, this date remains, for any respectable impersonator, a terrible day that echoes like the appearance of an unquenchable void. Thus, every year, Jean-Damien, Joël, Pascal, and Mathurin meet in a room that welcomes their dreams with indifference to celebrate in their own way the incandescent and eternal presence of the king of rock’n’roll.

Yet, this year, this August 16 has a strange flavor for these four solitudes seeking comfort in the figure of the King: it will be Joël’s last. Condemned by illness, he has only a few months left to live. News that will shake their lives and bring to the surface between them what they thought was deeply buried, transforming this final reunion into the most extraordinary of vigils.

With Les Larrons en baskets bleues, the young director Héloïse Ravet, already well known at the Théâtre de Liège (Œdipus, Outrage for Good Fortune), signs a sensitive work on the irresistible need for friendship among men, willing to do anything to find each other.
