Mercedes Dassy is a dancer and choreographer who uses her body as a weapon, a tool, an obstacle, a space for exploration, a super object and a vehicle to engage in an all-out battle. The young artist imbues her reflexive blossoming into a choreographic, political and aesthetic triangulation, which is linked to feminism and has been newly transplanted into the present. After the solo B4 Summer (which was created at the Pays de Danses Festival 2020), RUUPTUUR shifts towards a group performance, in this case, an explosive female quartet. Each dancer retains her own style, whether it is inspired by contemporary dance, urban dance or performance. The bodies are augmented by a suggestive prosthesis – an imposing equestrian armature – against a pulsating soundscape, in order to convey the multiple layers of rupturing, whether social, personal or political, and to rush into conventions, protocols, canons, standards, customs and norms. It is during this joyful ritual, which is as invigorating as it is anarchic, which vibrates between a trance and a primal scream, that the four cyborg-centaurs, who conquer fear and limitations, shatter the creeping gloom and defy the future intrepidly and with pride!
