The director Antonio Latella is introducing us to his new creation, Ti regalo la mia morte Verokina (I give you my death, Veronika). Inspired by the work of Rainer Fassbinder which tackles the representation and analysis of women, he speaks here about Veronika Voss, the Bavarian author’s last character and one of his main characters around which he created a unique work. This play is a rush, an extended hallucination in which we cannot distinguish reality from fiction. We have access here to Veronika’s mind, a fallen star in the grip of painkillers and her neurologist, a mind in which we can see memories and lost characters in black and white. Black represents reality, terror and fascination and swallows up other colours. White is the symbol for purity and grief, the colour of morphine which makes memories comforting and teaches the star to accept her agony as the only way out. This play tells the story of a great journey during which Veronika and Fassbinder’s other heroines offer their sacrifice to their creator.
