Amid the ruins of her home, destroyed by war, a young girl plays with a kitten.
Through fantastic stories she tells herself, she tries to grasp this new world beyond the looking glass and embarks on a survival game, where compromise, despair, and self-affirmation drive her to grow.

A game to avoid sinking into oblivion, to hold onto her name and her origins.
A game she must play, even if she is just a Pawn on the grand chessboard — when it would have been better to be a Queen.

Through the eyes of a child, A Crossing explores the mysteries and mechanisms of consciousness and imagination activated to confront the absurdity of a collapsing world torn apart by the madness of war.

Drawing inspiration from Lewis Carroll’s masterpiece Through the Looking-Glass, Natacha Belova and Tita Iacobelli — through puppetry and object theater — plunge the audience into a world now orphaned of rationality, where the absurd logic of a child’s fantasy suddenly becomes a lifesaving weapon against the manipulation of words and the domination of destructive ideas.
