Elena is the second wife of Vladimir, a rich retiree. They met when he was hospitalised, and she was his nurse. Their marriage is based on servility.

Luxembourg director Myriam Muller explores the drama and the outside world in parallel through cameras. The various themes in the piece – love and the codependency that it induces, the patriarchy and its abuses, the alienation of women by men and society, despiritualisation by money, gender inequality, the impossibility of social climbing and class relations – are sublimated by the elevation of the subject to an ancestral confrontation and an archaic emotion. An unflinching look at human nature.
