On the night of 1 November 1975, Pier Paolo Pasolini was assassinated on the beach in Ostia. During his lifetime, the Italian poet always warned of looming disaster: the disappearance of cultures opposed to consumer society and other ways of living around the world. Today, standardisation has spread in disastrous fashion. Starting with the night of the murder, two male and two female actors set out to create a show together. But what kind of show? What could be done with Pasolini, his death, his warnings? How can you narrate history, or, rather, how can you tell a story that is not inevitably a rehash? The collective shares its ‘Notes for a show’, which resemble a daydream, with the audience, through costumes, a set that is under construction, questions and disagreements. Here, we encounter an entire forgotten world: Pasolini himself, an Italian actress from the 1960s, a Renaissance painter, mythical or fantasy figures and witnesses with a particular degree of vitality. The quartet comedically attempts to showcase pessimism in an unfinished, bubbling piece that encourages them to act in the present. It’s damn exciting!
