Histoire(s) du Théâtre IV : One Song
Miet Warlop
Belgian visual artist and director Miet Warlop combines music and sport to reach their peak. Through the metaphor of a competition, accompanied by a concert, with plenty of commentators and cheerleaders, we are invited to lift each other up and form a community. The artist evokes the human condition through a requiem in honour of his brother, images and objects, oxygen and sweat. Through the repeated performance of the same song, the performers overcome the laws of competition, their physical limits and existential solitude.
Created at the Festival d’Avignon in 2022, where it experienced historic success, One Song celebrates unity in diversity in a cathartic and joyous world full of poetry and visual humour. A successful UFO !
