Emulation Festival

For over 20 years, the Emulation Festival has been the champion of young creations and young companies in the French-speaking Belgian theatrical landscape, now established as a must-attend event in the cultural scene of Liège. In the heart of spring, it is the renewal of the stage that drops anchor by the Meuse to invest the “Fiery City” and set the theaters’ stages ablaze.

With heterogeneous forms, fascinating themes, surprising adaptations, subtle texts, and wacky sets and costumes, this 11th edition once again promises to be the place for all discoveries, discoveries that testify to the vitality of the young guard from the Wallonia-Brussels Federation.

True to its traditions, the Emulation Festival will once again award two prizes at the end of this bubbling week: the Emulation Prize, awarded by a jury composed of performing arts professionals from across Europe, and the Young People’s Choice Award, awarded by a jury of secondary school students.

Because the Emulation Festival wouldn’t be complete without its now famous after-parties, Fridays and Saturdays will be an opportunity to reunite all the teams during tailor-made evenings – a unique opportunity to discover today what tomorrow’s theater will be like.
