An architectural – and ideological – movement with a long-disputed minimalist aesthetic, Brutalism finds a new resonance today in the work of Polish choreographer Kinga Jaczewska. Trained in leading Western European schools, the Warsaw-born artist – whose choreographic language blends sensitivity with formal precision – uses dance to explore this architecture that once defined the landscapes of Central and Eastern Europe, standing in stark contrast to the glittering capitalism of the West.

Inspired by Brutalist ideals – rooted in functionality, simplicity and a radical approach to form – BRUT delves into shades of grey to examine the relationships between the individual and the collective, between expressionism and concrete, between freedom and constraint, between East and West. It celebrates, above all, the expressive force of the ordinary.
