A man and a woman read each other’s personal diaries. Doing this, they mutually guide each other through their hidden desires, until they entangle themselves in an increasingly dense fabric of jealousy and anger. Josse de Pauw directs the four women who play the characters in the novel by Junichiro Tanizaki, demonstrating how human desire is irrepressible and ruled by old age and youth, the differences in cultural belonging and lies.
