Show premiered on 23 October 2025 at the National Theater, Taipei, TAIWAN
If you listen closely, you can hear sounds dancing all around us. They resonate through matter, flow through objects and make our bodies vibrate. We are not dancing: it is the sounds that dance through us. It is from this intuition that the Taiwanese choreographer Cheng Tsung-lung transforms sound into movement in his piece *All Ears*.
On an empty stage, the space becomes a vessel for vibrations. The dancers move instinctively — sometimes unpredictably — sketching out gestures that evoke the act of listening: hands brushing the air, bodies leaning towards or turning away from invisible sources, fleeting movements reminiscent of covering one’s ears or sharpening one’s perception. At times carried by the sound, at times resisting it, they establish a shifting dialogue between the body and the acoustics.
Supported by an immersive soundscape, the piece gives each sound an almost tangible presence, whilst the visual world extends this experience through interplay of light- , textures and shadows, composing a sensory landscape where bodies, mist and space intermingle.
All Ears thus becomes a true theatre of listening, where dance is not merely seen, but is also discovered through the ear.
