Alone with her father’s lifeless body, a young woman revisits her childhood memories. Memories of violence, solely, and a story he used to tell her, time and again: that of an old king who one day decides to bequeath his kingdom to his daughters, in exchange for their unconditional love. By drawing a parallel between her father’s violent behaviour and that of King Lear in Shakespeare’s eponymous play, the young woman attempts to come to terms with her personal and social history.
