In collaboration with the playwright Thomas Depryck, the director Antoine Laubin has intelligently crafted a flowing play that adapts the five films that François Truffaut dedicated to the character of Antoine Doinel, his cinematographic double played by Jean-Pierre Léaud (Les 400 coups, Antoine et Colette, Baisers volés, Domicile conjugaland L’Amour en fuite). In this vast fresco, which is split over three decades, the works overlap each other in a skilful collage of mounts and flashbacks. Through a multi-directional staging that includes the audience, the nine actors, who are faithful to the director’s spirit, offer us this bouquet of sentiments which are both profound and fantastical.
