Pedros – Portrait croisé d’un père et son fils

Maria Clara Villa Lobos
20/11/2024 23/11/2024
  • Duur: +/- 50'
  • Location : Salle de l’Œil vert

One is named Francis, the other Antoine. Both are called Pedros. One is a father, the other a son. Both are dancers. One was a soloist at the Royal Ballet of Wallonia – renamed Charleroi/Danses in 1991 –, the other is an urban dancer specializing in locking – a type of funk dance associated with hip-hop – and a choreographer within his own company. Both are deeply embedded in the practice they have dedicated their lives to.

When choreographer Maria Clara Villa Lobos meets the Pedros family – a whole family of dancers! – an idea sprouts in her mind: to tell the intertwined portrait of a father and his son through dance. Francis’s journey as a dancer and educator intertwines with that of his son Antoine, who saw his father dance even before he became aware of his own body.

In an intergenerational duo where the vigor of youth meets the experience of age, Maria Clara Villa Lobos narrates the relationship between a father and a son through the language of dance that is common to them, but also through their words, memories, anecdotes, weaving a link between past and present, between two generations of dancers. A journey like an ode to the dancing body… regardless of age.
